After many people telling me to read the book Divergent this summer, I decided to actually listen to them. Thinking it was too long i never did until this summer. A few chapters in i noticed that Divergent was actually a fascinating book and a great read, even though I was only a few chapters in. Divergent is probably one of the best made books and by far is one of my favorites.

Divergent takes place in the future of Chicago. It is divided into 5 factions, Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless, and Erudite. All 5 having a special trait,  Abnegation is selflessness, Amity is peacefulness, Candor is honesty, Dauntless is bravery, and Erudite is intelligence. The whole story consists of the main character or protagonist, Tris. Tris who grew up being Abnegation has to take the aptitude test to see what faction she belongs in and then make the choice herself of which faction she will be in for the rest of her life. Will she choose Abnegation and please her mom and dad or will she make the choice that will change her life completely and may even lose her familys love. Later on in the book you will discover that Tris made a huge decision and chose Dauntless. A shy girl going from watching the Dauntless jumping in and out of trains to now doing it herself. But was Tris really meant to be Dauntless or should she have stayed in Abnegation?

Throughout the rest of the book the story consists of Tris’s new major change of getting use to being in the Dauntless faction, everything that she’s known has been completely turned upside down. Dauntless being the opposite of Abnegation, made it a huge struggle in the beginning but that didn’t stop Tris. Her major change and journey throughout this book is well written and it won’t let you put the book down. From jumping off buildings and trains, getting tattoos,an extreme game of capture the flag, throwing knives, shooting guns, the romantic scenes, trying to be ranked number one, even facing your darkest fears, all the way to an amazing surprise at the end. A huge twisting ending that will put you into shock! She made enemies, friends, and maybe even a special friend and her whole experience with all of them is nothing she has never done before. But is her secret from all of them changing things or will it make her stronger than ever? Being Dauntless is bravery and Tris is brave of enough to be Dauntless.

What if you had to make the decision that chooses the path to the rest of your life? You have one choice, you can’t go back, if you quit your poor and factionless, and you have to fight your way to the top. Which faction would you pick? Would you be ready for the test of your life? You choose, you fight, and you either succeed or fail. If you want action, romance, and a thriller then read Divergent.

I have mad respect for ( and awe!) for Tris, but I would not pick Dauntless -- I'm definitely too fearful for that!

I read this book last year and I totally agree, it is one of my favorites! Veronica Roth does a great job with the writing and story line of the book. i loved this book and I'm glad you did too!

If I had to pick a fraction I would pick Dauntless. This is because I would be too bored with the other fractions and Dauntless would have more excitement than being the other four fractions.  From what you said in the post it looks like it has a good plot and I think I will give this book a try.

I've heard many great things about this book and this adds to the list! The way you worded this blog pulled me in kind of like you said the book will. I'm definitely thinking of giving this book a try! Great job!

Good job McKenna! I read divergent last year and I loved it! If I had to pick a faction I would probably go with Candor because I think being honest is very important. Overall this post was very well written!

Mckenna, If I had to choose one faction I would choose amity because I would be living in peace every day. This book looks like a good read and I am going to try it soon. Also it seems like this book has a lot of action, and I like action.

This book seems different from what I had heard but after reading your review of it I might consider reading it. It seems very interesting and I think the title makes sense with the course of the book because you're being "divided" amongst the 5 factions, and Divergent practically has the word divide in it.

This is one of my favorite books! This was a really good summary. I would choose Amity if I had to choose one because everyone there is nice
