Book Blog Monthly-March... How to Ruin My Teenage Life

During the month of Mach I read the book How to Ruin My Teenage Life by Simone Elkeles. It is the second installment in the How to Ruin series. I read the first book, How to Ruin My Summer Vacation, in the beginning of January. They are about a seventeen year old Amy Nelson-Barak who thinks her life is absolutely a mess. Anyone else that saw her though would think her life is perfect. She lives in downtown Chicago, she has good friends, goes to a private school, and wears designer clothing. Then again her parents are divorced, her mom got remarried and is pregnant, and Amy thinks her dad needs a significant other too. The major idea in the story though is the boyfriend that Amy left in Israel. In the first book Amy and her dad travel to Israel for the summer, and she meets Avi. Read the books to see what happens.

Like every other Simone Elkeles book I have read, I loved this one too. Here's the link to another blog I wrote about Simone Elkeles' novels, Perfect Chemistryand Rules of Attraction. The How to Ruin series is very different though. I personally think that it has a lot more depth than the Perfect Chemistry series. You kind of know what to expect from them unlike How to Ruin series has many more surprises within the pages. I think all teenage girls who like a twisted and cute romance novel should read the How to Ruin series. At the moment I am read the last book How to Ruin Your Boyfriend's Reputation.

Have you read this series or other Simone Elkeles books? Does this sound like a book you'd like to read? Do you know any other books that are like this one? Questions and comments always welcome.

Hi Ali!  I have heard only good things about the How To Ruin series.  I also love Simone Elkeles.  Her writing is very enjoyable to read for teenage girls.  I would love to read this series because I love her other books I have read Perfect Chemistry, Rules of Attraction, and Chain Reaction.  I have also read Leaving Paradise which I absolutely love and it is kind of like Perfect Chemistry in a way but I liked this one a little better.  If you have not read it I would highly suggest it if you like Simone Elkeles!  Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this book!

Hi, I'm Rosemary from CCHS. I too read How to Ruin My Teenage Life. I enjoyed reading it! Its definitely a book that us high schoolers can relate to, since we are close to the age of Amy. I haven't read Perfect Chemistry and Rules of Attraction yet, but I have heard great things about them both. Thanks for posting!
